The Edmonton Public School Board and the City of Edmonton are partnering to construct a multi-purpose facility just south of the Heritage Valley Town Centre.
By 2021, when construction is completed, residents of Desrochers will be moments away from Dr. Anne Anderson High School and its attached City of Edmonton community recreation wing. Wow!

High School Attendance Boundaries
It’s still too early to know what the attendance areas will be.
Edmonton Public Schools needs time to gather numbers and demographics. Boundaries will be finalized before pre-enrolment in February or March of 2021. That means you have plenty of time to help provide input!
Desrochers Residents: Get Involved!
During the planning process, Edmonton Public Schools will be actively looking for community members to provide input. The public school board collects data to ensure families’ needs are balanced with sustainability.
They also need to hear from the families with kids who will use the facility. If you live in Desrochers Villages with school-aged children, that’s YOU!
How to Get Involved?
Watch epsb.ca for information regarding setting attendance areas!
Once the process has begun, you’ll start seeing information in all the familiar places where you get your Edmonton Public Schools news and updates, like on their website, on social media and in area schools.
High School Design
Along with a growing number of school districts across North America, Edmonton Public Schools now incorporates evidence-based best practices of school and classroom design into planning and development.
This is GREAT news for Desrochers high-school-kids-to-be: Closed off rooms and row seating are a thing of the past!
“The school’s southwest-facing angle will capture sunlight and provide a bold architectural focal point for the Heritage Valley Community.”Thomas Ziegler, P.Eng., and Project Engineer with Al-Terra Engineering

“We’re developing 21st-century learning spaces to support how kids learn today.”Chris Wright, Managing Director of Infrastructure, Edmonton Public School
Heritage Valley Community Recreation Wing

- Built by Clark Builders and BR2 Architecture
- Still in planning stages.
- Will include amenities like: multi-purpose rooms, a running track, a gym, and space for community needs such as meetings and gatherings.
An Engineer’s Perspective
Thomas Ziegler, Professional Engineer and Project Engineer with Al-Terra Engineering, says that the most critical element for this site’s design is ensuring that people and cars can get in and out quickly and, most importantly, safely.
“Dr. Anne Anderson High School is part of a large community-oriented development, which will include recreational facilities, a library, other schools and a nearby LRT station. The design of the school’s facilities gives planning consideration to the future use of the remainder of the lands, for park expansions and other facilities. Given this interconnection, pedestrian circulation and overall ‘feel’ of the site, it presents amazing potential.”Thomas Ziegler, P.Eng., and Project Engineer with Al-Terra Engineering
